Hi Upstage family! This week we will be talking about the top five music biopics (and a couple of bonus movie recommendations).
If you haven’t heard the news, a new Bob Dylan biopic is hitting the theaters this December. It looks very promising, and people of all ages across Minnesota are very excited for the movie to come out. What’s even more interesting, is that the previous Bob Dylan biopic, released in 2007, is at the top of Rolling Stone Magazine’s "30 best music biopics of all time" list.
However, the list that will follow is calculated based on the top twenty to thirty rankings on music biopics from several different sources.
Without further ado, here is the top five list of music biopics to ever exist:
#5 Ray
This film is very emotional and tells a heart-wrenching story of Ray Charles’ life and career.
#4 Amadeus
Following the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the film is truly unlike any other music biopic.
#3 Straight Outta Compton
This film follows N.W.A.’s rise to fame and their fall.
#2 Walk the Line
Walk the Line is a film about the country legend Johnny Cash, and his rise to fame.
#1 Bohemian Rhapsody
Bohemian Rhapsody was the #1/in the top five of music biopics according to several different music blogs. The film is about the band Queen and its lead singer Freddie Mercury, leading up to the band’s performance at Live Aid.
Even though several of these films have a similar story line, they are fascinating in their own ways; and according to the internet, they are worth the watch!
AND, here are a couple of parody music biopics -- if you are tired of watching the same music storyline over and over again:
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
This movie has Daniel Radcliffe as Weird Al, it's completely bonkers in the best way.
Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping
This movie was created by Andy Sandberg to make fun of music biopics, and you would not believe the amount of celebrity cameos in it.
As the weather gets colder and we all spend more time inside than out, I definitely recommend putting one of these movies on. It’s great to learn a little bit about the legendary musicians of today and yesterday!
In other news,
you've been polled!
Thank you to the person who replied!😆
